Abstract:

This hands-on, interactive, engaging and entertaining popular session is designed to give life-long learners (including but not limited to administrators, Pre-K through university instructors, parents and community leaders) nontraditional strategies to engage non-traditional classrooms learners and school support community members using America's roots music, the Blues, and technology. During the final quarter of this offering, all participants will be placed into groups that will present and performance their group project.

Culturally relevant teaching strategies will also be demonstrated and supported by statistics, the integration of technology, live music and a team building exercise. Best Practice methods to help improve literacy, attendance and discipline will also be on display. Participants don't have to be musically inclined to benefit and enjoy this experience. Some may even receive brand new harmonicas to play and keep as part of the breakout activity.

Presenter:

Fernando Jones has been invited to lecture and facilitated team building seminars throughout the continental United States and Hawaii by institutions and corporations including the Illinois State Board of Education, TEDx Talk, Chicago Public Schools, the Smithsonian, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame + Museum, the LA Unified School District(s), the Annual NABSE Conference, the Conservatory in Pescara, Italy, and Nike to name a few.
